4. Discussion

In pairs, ask your partner the following questions and note down his/her answers:

In which department were you affected to complete your 4 weeks’ training session in nursing practice last September?

What did you do during your nursing care training?

What kind of tasks do nurses carry out in your country?

Are nurses’ responsibilities increasing? What are the implications of this?

Following this session, what qualities, do you think, are needed to be a good hospital nurse?

What is your best memory? What is your worst memory?

What do you think should be changed to improve care within the department you worked in?

What will be different when you are a doctor?



6. Role play

Choose a partner. One of you will play the nurse and the other will be the patient. Try to remember one of the situations you encountered in hospital and play your role as realistically as possible.

Make sure you use the following words: drip, nasogastric tube, chest drain, colostomy bag, dressings, abscess, naked.
